THE JOURNEY OF VENUS

Late July saw the twinkle of Venus emerging in the evening sky. The Goddess of love, beauty, relationship, and the arts has made her way out of the underworld shadow and into the heavens where she can shine once again, renewed + reborn. 

She first descended into darkness in the spring. As she inched toward the Sun, her light became diminished as she navigated the shadows. Her time in the underworld is not without purpose, though. Deep transformation, reflection and empowerment take place here. 

Her cazimi Star Point on June 4 in Rohini Nakshatra (tropical 14 Gemini) marked a powerful moment in her journey. I think of a cazimi as an awakening; a powerful moment of realization and empowerment. 

As her light emerges into the sky, she will be in Ashlesha Nakshatra (tropical Leo). The New Moon in Ashlesha, which comes August 4, further activates this energy, reminding you of and further activating the wisdom which Venus wishes to provide. 

A potent note regarding Ashlesha. It is ruled by Nagas, the serpent deities of the underworld. It is a sensual and passionate Nakshatra and relates to poison/venom, transformation, and Kundalini.

Today, August 2 (on her day, Friday) she enters an exact square to Uranus at 26 Taurus, still at the degree of fixed star Algol, “the demon star.” This energy has an echo of the Mars/Uranus conjunction that took place at this degree on July 15.

Algol is symbolized by Medusa's head in Greek + Roman myth. Medusa's story is very complicated. She was actually a rape victim who’s story is quite tragic. 

A part of her is a monster, another part of her is a maiden who was violated, betrayed, hurt and unsupported. 

There are complex emotions to this Star. 

This celestial landscape suggests that Venus’ emergence into the night sky may have a sting to it. 

Uranus brings shock + surprise, upheaval + instability, 

Remember, though, he is also “The Great Awakener.” 

There is potential to heal some relatively deep wounds with this energy. Or perhaps you are awakened to aspects of yourself that you didn’t know needed healing; habits, patterns, ways of being, lifestyle choices etc. Venusian themes are highlighted here. Being that Venus governs relationships, anything that is blocking our ability to connect and find union is usually rooted in our own fears anyhow. Uranus provides the necessary “shake up” to clear the path forward, as he is the most future oriented of all the planets. 

It’s important to remember that a single moment is only a mile marker in the grand story. It might have stand alone value and impact, but its true purpose isn’t realized until the story ends. 

It isn’t just her return to the evening sky, but the journey, he morning star phase, her journey into darkness, those she meets and connects with along the way, and the circumstances ahead encounters that are apart of her story.
